Good Morning Pottery Sports Fans! Got time for a story that started 40 years ago? Are you sitting comfortably? Well then let’s begin...Back in 1979 my Father set out to make his dream come true. After searching for a piece of property for more than a year, my parents bought this location in Bristol NY that is now The Wizard of Clay Pottery. My Father and one other man, with some fleeting help from friends here and there, built the original 4 geodesic domes on this property in 10 months. It was done the old fashioned way, with ladders, hammers and nails, and boundless grit and determination. I was 11 at the time, and remember when this corner was just a field. After the frame was up and the plywood sheathing was on, my Father roofed all four buildings, by HIMSELF, hammer and nail, and a custom built ladder that hinged in the middle, in the sweltering heat of the summer of 1979. At the time, I was too young to really be of much help. He always told me that the roof would last for 40 years, and then need to be replaced. That was engrained into my memory. He assured me that day would come, and if I was still here, I would have to find a way to make it happen. That day has come. And I indeed am still here. I have hired this crew of Young Bucks from ROC roofing to tackle the project. At 51, I’m no young buck, but more of a well seasoned, wisened Bull. I easily have more than twice the strength and stamina of many men half my age, and could be on the roof helping them if I needed to, but right now I am better off doing what my Father built these domes for, sitting at the wheel and throwing pottery. In this modern day, these roofers have an amazing array of tools, lifts, jacks, pneumatic nail guns and superior materials, and are gettin’ the JOB DONE. Under the thundering racket of the work going on above me as I write this post, I am proud to say, “Dad, I found a way.” Thank you for planting the seed of what is the most important and precious thing to me, The Wizard of Clay. Thank you for teaching me how to really WORK. Taking over this business has kept me centered, focused, strong, honest, and more determined than anything ever has. This place will always be home.

April 1 – December 31 : Open seven days a week.
January 1 – March 31: Open six days a week – closed on Thursdays.
Closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
